“Superb” mill transformation is praised

The Amos Group’s conversion of two former textile mills to become accommodation for Alton Towers resort staff has been praised by both the client and the local authority.
Well Street Mill and nearby Alexandra Mill, both close to Leek town centre, have been converted to 65 single-bedroom units to accommodate staff at the North Staffordshire theme park and resort. The accommodation also includes ample kitchens, bathrooms and social space.
The project, completed by Amos Group teams against a tight deadline, was officially opened by Coun. Sybil Ralphs, Leader of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
Praising the high standard of work shown in the conversion, Coun. Sybil said the project had achieved a “superb transformation”. “This is regeneration at its very best,” she said.
Phil Sterne, Strategic Recruitment Manager for Alton Towers, said that the creation of new staff accommodation had been a huge project for Alton Towers which would not have been achieved without the experience of the Amos Group. “They have done a marvellous job,” he said.
After the official opening, councillors, media representatives and local residents had the chance to tour the accommodation in both buildings.
The two lower floors at the four-storey Alexandra House have become the Amos Group’s new headquarters.
