Group donates Christmas tree to town
December 3 2007
Leek’s festive Christmas tree has been put in place town’s Market Place courtesy of the Amos Group.
The company donated the 25-foot tree and put it in position in readiness for the switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights.
“We decided to help after we saw the Town Council was appealing for a sponsor for this year’s tree,” explained Sharon Gould, personal assistant to the managing director.
“As one of Leek’s largest employers and the owner of a considerable amount of property in the town we are only too pleased to be able to help,” she added.
The tree was chosen from a company-owned plantation near Oakamoor and delivered to the Market Place by Amos staff – saving the Town Council around £650 in total.
Town centre co-ordinator Mike Cozens commented: “I’m delighted with this generous gesture from the Amos Group. We have been able to choose a fine, well-proportioned tree and the company has saved us additional cost by erecting it in the Market Place for us.”
