Exceeding expectations with school library project

December 2008

Impressive new library facilities at one of Staffordshire’s leading public schools will be ready sooner than expected after Abbotsholme School awarded a significant construction contract to the Amos Group.

In need of upgraded facilities to meet the needs of their 340 students, Abbotsholme – an independent day and boarding school near Rocester – originally expected the project would be complete in readiness for Autumn term 2009.

But having won the competitive contract in early December, Amos Group  met the clients’ high expectations by negotiating a new schedule which will see completion before the Summer term – saving the school months of disruption.

The project includes the combining of the former library and adjoining reading room into a single, state-of-the-art library and the total refurbishment of two other classrooms to create separate fiction and careers libraries. The libraries adjoin Abbotsholme’s central rose yard which is also being repaved by Amos teams to incorporate the school logo.

“This will be a significant improvement to our library facilities, creating a new academic centre right in the heart of the school,” said Abbotsholme’s Commercial  Manager Richard Mayfield.

“We are delighted the work will be completed sooner than we expected. It means we will now be able to  unveil the new facilities at our annual Summer Gathering in early July when parents, former students and guests will celebrate the life of the school.”
